What to expect at South Alabama!

Hey Jags! When it comes to preparing for your transition to South Alabama, I hava couple of useful tips and pointers to provide as well as events to attend.
1) Orientation: Coming to orientation, make sure that you bring comfortable shoes and wear comfortable clothes. In Mobile, the weather is very unpredictable. You could be drenched with sweat or soaked from the rainstorm by the time your walking tour around campus is over with.
2) Bring reliable rain gear: Having a rain jacket and rain boots are very important to have when living in Mobile. I will also recommend to go ahead and replace that umbrella that is falling apart, because from experience.... the rain will win...
3) Housing: I will definitely recommend bringing an egg crate or type of memory foam mattress pad for those residence hall beds. Whew chillayyyyy
4) OOZEBALLLL! If you do not know what oozeball is, get very acquainted. Oozeball is volleyball in the mud and is held in the Spring semester. So form your co-ed teams and do not be afraid to get dirty.
5) Jag Gear: Go ahead and stock up on some cute and cool t-shirts, sweatshirts, and plenty of other items to choose from to make yourselves more comfortable on campus. See ya soon!

Hey y'all! My name is Reise Sherman and I am a senior here at South reigning all the way from a small town on the outskirts of Birmingham called Pleasant Grove. I am majoring in Professional Health Sciences set to graduate in December 2019. I originally came to South majoring in nursing, and over time realized that that was something that I really was not interested in. A Piece of Advice....

One piece of advice that I would have definitely given myself 4 years ago when entering college would be organization. If you are coming to college and you are highly organized, I commend you because that high school to college transitions was stressful in terms of staying on top of things. Definitely go ahead and practice those good habits of buying a planner, using your calendar and reminders on your cell phone, or even rewarding yourself when you complete your set amount of goals for the day. Outdoor Adventures :)

Hey you guys! It's spring time here in Mobile on campus.... well, most days but one of my favorite outdoor past time activity to partake in would have to be relaxing in the pool. Whether it is at the Campus Rec or at a friend's apartment complex. I enjoy going to the pool because it feels great to have some Vitamin D to warm you up and nice, blue water to cool you down. It serves as a great area to study or even take a break from studying. My all-time favorite area about the Campus Rec pool is the whirlpool. It is especially great with friends! Make sure to stop by and check out the Campus Rec pool and maybe I will see you there!
